Environmental statement

We are committed at HWM Building Services to operating our business in a professional and ethical manner, paying particular attention to our environmental responsibilities. We conduct ourselves as follows:


  • We identify and strictly comply with the letter and intent of all relevant legal and related requirements.
  • We implement and review our environment at policy at board level, setting targets for measuring improvement in our environmental performance, including energy use and waste reduction.
  • We promote a high standard of environmental care and best practice by communicating our responsibilities to our staff and others under our control.
  • We provide training to raise awareness about how our business impacts the environment.
  • We design, specify and install building services systems to meet or exceed planning policy statements, BREEAM and LEED policies and The Code for Sustainable Homes.
  • We encourage clients to attain sustainable and low carbon solutions within project budgets.
  • We organise our operations to minimise pollution and disturbance to our neighbours and the public.
  • We strive to protect the flora and fauna and their habitats at our offices and where we work on site.
  • We aim for the long-term sustainability of consumable items via the efficient procurement and use of materials and resources.
  • We minimise travel but where it’s a necessity we look to take the least environmentally impacting mode of transport.

Health and safety approach

We are committed to ensuring that all our people can carry out their works as safely as possible. We are proactive about H&S, promoting the policy that all activities should be conducted to the highest possible standards with minimum risk.


Full risk assessments are undertaken on all projects in line with current CDM regulations, with the aim of wherever possible designing out health and safety risks associated with installation and continuing maintenance. Our working methods are pre-planned to ensure that all the associated risks have been removed or minimised, with all reasonable precautions taken.


Good communication is maintained between management and on-site installation teams, so that everyone involved thoroughly understands the works to be carried out and the associated procedures and precautions that must be followed. Safety inspections and independent audits are regularly conducted and reviewed as part of our drive for continual assessment and business improvement.


All personnel working for us, whether directly employed or sub-contracted, are CSCS registered.
